The Clayton Fire Company is joining its Ladies Auxiliary in mourning the passing of Charter Life Member Mary Alice Van Pelt on Wednesday March 7, 2018 at Hospice of Delaware in Milford, she was 98 years old. Ms. Van Pelt was born on November 24, 1919 in Dover. She was a loving homemaker who enjoyed her family and working in her yard and her flower garden. She also loved to read and watch Western Movies. She was a good cook and took great pride in raising and caring for her family. She was Preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Carroll Van Pelt. She was survived by two sons, James Walls (Sharon) and Donald Van Pelt (Molly), Two Daughters Jodie Burchard and Brenda Thomas, 5 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild, she is also survived by 3 sister in laws Marie Wheatley, Barbara Davis and Nancy Teat. Service will be private with the family.
