Tuesday morning April 13 at 11:00am Clayton Fire Co. along with Engine and Ladder Sta 44, Engine and Tanker Sta 26, Rescue and Tanker KCMD Sta 2, Amb 51, Amb 27 and KM5 were dispatched for the residental structure fire at 1629 Harvey Straughn Road. Responding units were advised the caller reported their hot water heater had exploided and their kitchen was on fire. Command 45 w/Chief John Pridemore and Engine 45 w/5 Asst Chief Robbie Jonson arrived together and reported a one story SFD with fire showing from the charlie and delta sides. The crew from Engine 45 stretched the handline while the driver secured a water supply upon the arrival of Tanker 26. The crew from Tanker 26 stretched the second handline. Crews found heavy fire in the attached garage and kitchen area of the residnce. Quint 45 w/5, Firefighter Kevin Crews and Ladder 44 arrived and handled the searches and opened up for the engine companies. The crews from Engine 26 and Squad 26 assisted with various other tasks on scene. The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes. There were no injuries and the fire is being investigated by the Delaware Fire Marshals Office. Chief Pridemore had the command. Engine 51 covered Station 45 while 29-6 covered Station 26.
