Saturday morning the company conducted a control burning of a vacant house on Harvey Straughn Road west of town. Assisting in the control burning was Townsend Fire Company and the state forestry service. Occasions like this give the younger members the opportunity to work on their hose handling skills among other things. The property is owned by the State of Delaware and falls under the state forestry service at Blackbird State Forest.
