On Thursday evening May 18th at 6:39pm the station was dispatched for a small fuel spill located at School Lane and Wheatley Pond Rd. Command 45 w/Capt. Pridemore and Engine 45-4 w/5, Deputy Chief Alex Carrow arrived together and found a fuel spill spread out on both streets that was approx. 1/4 mile long. Rescue 45 w/5, Past Chief Jeff Lightcap arrived behind the engine. Command requested a sand truck and the Hazmat Trailer from Station 48 Felton to respond. Crews blocked off the area and stood by for the HAZMAT Unit. DNREC was also requested to respond. Fire police and Clayton PD closed School Ln from Preston Dr to Wheatley Pond Rd and the west bound lane of Wheatley Pond Rd while crews worked to clean up the scene. Captain Pridemore had the School Lane – Command. Units respond Command 45, Engines 45-4, 45-3, R-45, 48-9 w/ Hazmat Trailer, Sta 45 Fire Police, Clayton PD, DNREC, DELDOT.
