Ropes and rescue training
Monday, June 5, 2017

Monday night at training the members of the Clayton Fire Company conducted training on skills not used all the time. The members trained on how to secure a patient into a stokes basket and then use the ladder to move them for one point to another. Training Officer 1st Asst. Chief Ray Johnson stated “we need to train on all the skills we may be called upon to perform, rescue operations using ropes and other rescue related tool is something we do not do often yet we must be the best we can be when the time comes” 20 members took turns securing other members in the stokes basket making sure they were secure enough to be moved safely. The members used straps, ropes, pulleys, and other related rescue tools to move the stokes basket using the tip of the ladder. Clayton trains on this procedure a few times a year.
