VOLUNTEERS HAVE BUSY MONDAY WITH 6 CALLS

The volunteers of Clayton had a busy first day of the week after totaling 6 runs for the day.  The first call came in just after lunch at 12:11 when the engine along with Tanker Company 56 were dispatched to assist Station 51 Hartly on a residential structure fire on Arthursville Road at Powders Run.  Hartly units arrived to find an old abandon that the owner was conducting a unauthorized control burning of the structure.  Engine 45-3 w/5, Deputy Chief Alex Carrow made the response.  Prior to the arrival of the engine the incident command redirected the engine to respond to Station 51 for a cover up.  Lt. Reed had the Arthursville Road command.   Later in the afternoon at 3:43pm the station was dispatched for the fire alarm in the residence at 193 Chesapeake Lane in the Providence Crossing development.  Command 45 w/Chief Wes Davis, Engine 45-3 w/4, Deputy Chief Alex Carrow, Quint 45 w/5, Asst. Chief Ray Johnson and Engine 45-4 w/5, Past Chief Jeff Lightcap made the response and arrived to find an unintentional activation of the fire alarm.  As units were clearing the station along with Ambulance 64 were dispatched for the motor vehicle accident with injuries at Wheatley’s Pond Rd & Mount Friendship Rd.  The units form the fire alarm in Providence Crossing along with Rescue 45 w/3, Capt. John Pridemore made the response and arrived to find a 2 vehicle accident.  Crews stabilized both vehicles and began patient care until arrival of EMS units.  One operator was transported to KGH with half on KM6 on board and the other was taken to Smyrna/Clayton ER with minor injuries.  Assistant Chief Johnson had the Wheatley’s Pond Road Command.  Finally after our Monday night work detail at 8:37pm the Ladder and Engine along with Tanker Company Station 44 and 51 were dispatched to assist Station 43 on a reported barn fire at 2284 Bryn Zion Rd.  Quint 45 w/4, Deputy Chief Alex Carrow and Engnine 45-3 w/5, Assistant Chief Robbie Johnson made the response.  Quint 45 arrived with Command 43 and found a large 3 car garage with some showing.  The crew from Quint 45 secured the water supply and stretched hand line finding a small area of fire in the garage.  Command quickly scaled the response back to Station 43 and 45 units.  Assistant Chief Daniel Curetti had the Bryn Zion Road Command.  The Ladder  and Engine were back in quarters around 11pm.  While the Ladder and Engine were working the building fire on Bryn Zion Road the station was dispatched for the engine to assist Station 26 Townsend on the residential structure fire at 502 Southerness Drive in the Odessa National Development in Townsend.  Engine 45-4 w/6 Past Chief Jeff Lightcap made the response but was cancelled prior to arrival.  Photo’s courtesy Alex Carrow and Gene Shaner Sta 45 & Doug Curran Sta 44..
