Wednesday morning at 10:31hrs the station was dispatched as part of the first alarm assignment for a residential structure fire at 823 Stella St in the Bon Ayre Development in Smyrna. With a crew in the station Quint 45 was quickly on the street w/4, Asst. Chief Ray Johnson followed by Engine 45-3 w/6, Lt. Jonathan Burnett and Rescue 45 w/7, Deputy Chief Alex Carrow. Quint 45 and Engine 44-2 arrived to together with the crews establishing a water supply and placing two hand lines in service. The crew from 45-3 stood by a second hydrant while its crew handled the primary search. Additional units handled various tasks on the fire scene including the secondary search, ventilation and overhaul. Crews made a quick knockdown on the fire, searches came up negative. One dog perished in the fire while a second dog survived. Chief Hartnett from Sta 44 had the command.
