CHRISTMAS HAS ARRIVED IN CLAYTON
Sunday, December 3, 2017

Christmas has offically arrived in Clayton.  With our Christmas Tree Sales in full swing the community really kicked off the Christmas Season on Sunday December 3rd.  Now known as Christmas in Clayton the day was a full day of activities for the whole community.  The day began with our Annual Breakfast with Santa.  This year was a very special year as we celebrated our 20th year of bringing Santa and Mrs Claus to the children of the Clayton area.  This years event was again a sellout with well over 350 people attending the event. As with years past each child had the chance to spend a few minutes with Santa and have their picture taken and got a small gift from Santa.  We would like to thank all our sponosrs for this event;  Bill Powers, Ruby Dillmore, Pratt Insurance, Atlantic Emergency Solutions, Kent County Levy Court, Sen. Bruce Ennis, Colonial Motors and ISE America.  Because of their generiousity we were able to put on another get event.

Following Breakfast with Santa the Clayton Historical Society held their first ever Christmas in Clayton from 2pm to 6pm.  This event was a huge sucess.  Vistors were able to strole around the area and look through the vendor get something to eat, take part in a live nativity display by the Ewell St. Paul Church, listen to Christmas Music and get to see Santa and Nrs. Claus again at our Christmas Tree Lot.

At 5pm the Clayton-Smyrna area got to take part and watch the Annual Smyrna Clayton July 4th Foundations Christmas Parade.  This years parade lasted for almost and hour and had well over 20 units in it.  There was a huge turnout from the public to watch the parade.  The company had 2 engines, the ladder, rescue, command vehicle and both gators in the parade.

Finally after the parade at 6pm the July 4th Foundation held their annual Memorial Christmas Tree Lighting at the station. The event is attended by alot of the public.  This is a chance for people to remember friends and family that have passed away by having a christmas bulb dedicated to their loved one.  The tree is offically turned on for the first time after the names are read.

The company would like to thank eveyone that has come out and supported all our events this holiday season and would liek the 70 members that came out on Sunday to help with the Breakfast with Santa and tree sales that were going on at the sametime.  Pictures courtesy; Gene Shaner, Mike Carroll, Kevin Wilson, Joe Jones and Jerry Hull.
