The last couple days 7 members of the truck committee flew to Appleton Wisconson to complete the final inspection on the companies new engine. The committee arrived on Monday spent the rest of Monday touring the factory and began going through the pages and pages of specs be make sure everything was in ordered. The committee returned Tuesday and Wednesday morning to complete the inspection, test drive and pump test. The committee flew back Wednesday afternoon and was expected to arrive home around 11pm Wednesday night. The committee was very pleased with the truck and other then a few minor items everything was as expected. The truck will leave Pierce in a couple days and will be driven back to Delaware to Atlantic's shop in Middletown where it will have a few additional things done to it before coming to the station. After that hose is expected to be loaded before it goes to First Due Apparatus Solutions in Southern Maryland to have equipment mounted. Once it returns to the station firefighters and drivers will have a period to get familiar with the engine before being placed in service. The committee would like to thank Pierce Manufactoring, Atlantic Emergency Solutions and especially VP Brian Basista for all their help and advice during the process. The committee members that made the trip for the final inspection were; Committee Chairman Roland Timmons, Fire Chief Wes Davis, Depity Fire Chief Alex Carrow, Past Fire Chief Jim Cubbage, Captain Austin Moorhead, Captain Jonathan Burnett, Firefigher Mike Thompson.
