RESIDENTAL STRUCTURE FIRE

Monday evening at 9:56pm the station along with Engine Company 44 and Ladder Company 46 were dispatched for the residential structure fire in the 200 block on Clayton Ave.  Engine 45-3 w/6 Deputy Chief Alex Carrow arrived first secured a water supply and stretched an hand line.  They were followed quickly by Engine 44-3 w/ Lt Brian Furguson and Quint 45 w/5, Chief Wes Davis.  The crew from 44-3 assisted the engine crew from 45-3 while the crew from Q45 handled the primary search and threw ladders.  Engine 45-4 w/5, Assistant Chief Jeff Lightcap arrived and stood by a second water source.  Rescue 45 w/6, Firefighter Dave Ross arrived and assisted with the searches.  Crews located smoke in the basement and first floor and later isolated the problem to a fire in the heater in the basement.  Positive pressure ventilation was use to clear smoke from the residence.  Ladder Company 46 was cleared prior to arrival.  Captain Craig Snyder had the Clayton Command.  Units responding: command 45, Engines 45-3, 45-4, 443, 46-4, Quint 45, Ladder 46-2, Rescue 45, Station 45 & 44 Fire Police.  Photo's courtesy Jerry Hull.
