Thursday morning just before lunch at 11:45 the station along with Engine 44 and Ladder Company 43 were dispatched for the High Life Hazzard Commercial Structure Fire at 4877 Wheatleys Pond Road. The location is a mixed occupancy with a church in half of the building and a day care for children and young adults with special needs. Responding units were advised the caller reported a burning odor in the day care area. Command 45 w/Deputy Chief Alex Carrow arrived and found the building evacuated. He was followed by Engine 45-2 w/5, Captain Jonathan Burnett, Quint 45 w/3, Firefighter Kevin Crews and Engine 44-3. Engine 45-2 established a water supply and stretched a line. The crews from Qunt 45 & 44-3 were assigned the roof. Also responding were Engine 45-3, Tower 43 and Engine 43-2. Crews were able to isolate the problem to a HVAC unit on the roof.
