Clayton Fire Company had a special visitor today while they were having their final practice for the Seaford Fire Department's 37th Annual Softball Tournament that benefits the Delaware Burn Camp. Eleven year old Lincoln CyKosy of Smyrna, was just 2 1/2 years old when he was attending a 4th of July BBQ with his family. While family members were roasting hotdogs over the fire, Linx got tangled up in the dogs chain and lost his balance. He fell into the campfire which was full of coals, at the time, with his left hand open and right hand closed. As Linx fell, he landed against the campfire ring, which burned his little belly. Station 82 (Lewes) Ambulance took him to Beebe, where they flew him to Crozer. Linx ended up staying at Crozer for 11 days. He received skin grafts (using skin from his thigh) on his affected fingers. Linx started going to Delaware Burn Camp when he was 6 years old and hasn't missed a year since. Linx and his family can't describe just how beneficial this has been. The Burn Camp keeps the kids busy with wonderful activities, field trips, yummy food, awesome gifts. Lincoln and his family would like to thank everyone - the AWESOME adults, counselors and friends who make Lincoln's week so perfect. Clayton Fire Company would like to thank all of those that are involved in this weekend's tournament for helping raise money for such a great cause and for our very own Linx! The team would also like to thank their sponsors; Durham Transportation of Clayton, The Smyrna-Clayton July 4th Foundation, Barkley's Plumbing and Heating and Skip Carrow for their sponsorship and support. Clayton first game will be Saturday morning at 9am against Belvedere Fire Company from New Castle County. Photo's courtesy of Ginger Barkley.
