RESCUE GOES TO SMYRNA FOR AUTO ACCIDENT WITH SUBJECTS TRAPPED

Saturday evening at 4:50pm the station was dispatched for the rescue to assist Station 44 on a serious vehicle accident with 4 subjects trapped on Rt1 in the area of Woodland Beach Road.  Rescue 45 w/7, Assistant Chief Jeff Lightcap quickly made the response.  The rescue went on scene with Smyrna units and went to work with all the tools off the rescue assisting Smyrna Firefighters with extrication.  After an extended extrication the 4 occupants of the car anlong with the operator of the pickup truck were transported to Bayhealth Kent and CER via ground and aviation units.  The highway remained closed for several hours while police investigated the accident.  Chief Dean Johnson from Smyrna had the Command.  Units responding; Engines 44-2 & 44-3, Rescue 44, Rescue 45, Brush 44-0, BLS units from 64, 26, 27, KM6, KM7, KM5, Medic 5, Trooper 4, Trooper 2, Sta 44 & 45 Fire Police, DELDOT, DSP.  Photo's courtesy several sources.
