LADDER, RESCUE AND ENGINE GO TO SMYRNA FOR MULTI RESIDENTAL STRUCTURE FIRE

Monday afternoon at 4:02pm the station along with Ambulance 64  and Kent County Paramedics were dispatch to assist Station 44 Smyrna with a multi residental structure fire at 1611 Providence Dr in the Governors Place Apartments.  Quint 45 w/6, Chief Alex Carrow arrived to find a working fire on the first floor of a 2 story multi family dwelling.  The crew from Q-45 and Engine 44-4 both stretched a line to the fire apartment and the Delta 1 exposure.  Engine 45-2 w/6, Past Chief Robert Davis arrived and secured a water supply and stretched additional lines to the Charlie Side and along with Ladder 44 checked for extension in those apartments.  Rescue 45 w/5, Deputy Chief John Pridemore arrived and assisted with several functions on the fire scene.  Crews were able to make quick work of the fire and contain the fire to the apartment where it started.. That apartment recieved severe fire, heat and smoke damage.   In all 6 out of 8 apartments were affected in some form by the fire.   Chief Dean Johnson (44-15) from Station 44 had the command.  Units responding 44-4, 44-3, 45-2, Ladder 44, Qunit 45, Rescue 45, B-64, C-64, KM6, SPD, FM-15 (Sipple).  Photo's courtesy Josh Klingler, austin Moorhead and Chuck Kelchner.
