COMPANY RESPONDS TO REPORTED TRAIN ON FIRE

Friday evening at 8:14pm the station along with Engine Co. Sta 44, Ambulance 64 and Kent County Paramedics were dispatched for the reported train on fire in the 1300 Block of Clayton Greenspring Rd.  Assistant Chief Jones who lives in the area responded directly to the scene followed by Engine 45 w/6, Captain Jonathan Burnett and Squad 45 w/4, Past Chief Robert Davis.  Crews were able to eventually make contact with the train company and crew and confirm that the fire that was reported was sulfur residue burning off in the stack of the train.  Engines 44-3 and 44-4 along with B-64 and KM6 also responded.  Command placed the scene under control and returned all units,  Units responding; E-45, Sqd 45, 44-3, 44-4, B-64, KM6, DNREC.  Photo's courtesy Joe Jones.
