ENGINE AND BRUSH TRUCK GO TO SMYRNA FOR TRASH FIRE

Monday afternoon March 29th at 13:59 the station was alerted for the Engine and Brush Piece to assist Station 44 with a trash fire.  Engine 45 w/5, Captain Alex Carrow and Brush 45 w/5 Firefighter Dave Ross arrived to find Smyrna units with a couple lines in service on a trash pile on fire from the rear of a trash truck in the parking lot of 671 S. Carter Road.  The crews from the engine assisted the crew from 44-3 with overhauling the trash pile that was on fire while the Brush assisted 44-0 with a small brush fire caused by the trash fire,  The crews worked for about 20 minutes to extinquish the fire.  Past Chief Brooks Keen had the Command.  While still on scene Engine 45 responded along with Engine 44-2 and EMS assets to an MVC with minor injuries on Dupont Parkway infront of the Smyrna Rest Area.  Past Chief Curtis Heath had Command of the MVC.  Photo's courtesy Joe Jones.  Units responding to both incidents;  Engine 44-2, 44-3, Engine 45, Brush 44-0, Brush 45, B-64, D-64, Sta 44 & 45 Fire Police.
