THE FIRE SERVICE ONCE AGAIN PAUSES TO REMEMBER THOSE THAT HAVE DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY

The Fire Service in America is once again taking time this weekend to recognize those mombers who made the ulltimate sacrifice over the last year.  Because of Covid in 2020 the event us unable to be held as norminal so those fallen will be remembered at this years event.  Eighty Seven firefighters died in the line of duty in 2020. They will be joined by eighty two firefighters from 2019 and forty six firefighters who died in previous years that are being added to the memorial.  The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation will present each family with an American flag flown over the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial and the U.S. Capitol, along with a rose and medal.  This year also marks the 40th year this event has taken place on the grounds of the National Fire Academy in Emittsburg Md.  The Clayton Fire Co. will once again honor those members who died in the line of duty, especially those from Delaware by placing a wreath illuminated by a red light on the fire companies memorial at the front of the station.
