Dignified Transfer to Honor Clayton Fire Chief John Pridemore
Clayton, DE – Fire Chief John Pridemore will be brought home on Friday March 11, 2022 at approximately 1100 hours from the medical examiner’s office located in Wilmington, DE to Faries Funeral Home in Smyrna.
Chief Pridemore will be escorted home by apparatus of the Clayton Fire Company, Citizen’s Hose Company of Smyrna, Smyrna American Legion Ambulance and the Clayton Police Department.
The route from the medicals office will be 2nd Street in Wilmington to I-95 South, to the Rt-1 and I-95 interchange, it will then proceed South on Rt-1 to the North Smyrna Exit where it will then proceed South on Rt-13 to Commerce Street in Smyrna it will take a right turn and proceed to S. Main Street where it will turn left onto S. Main Street proceeding to Faries Funeral Home.
While at the medical examiner’s office members will honor Chief Pridemore by coming to attention and rendering a hand salute as he is removed from the medical examiner’s office and placed into the Hearse for transport to the funeral home. Upon arriving at the funeral home the same honors will be given again.
The procession will involve motorcycle units from many Delaware Police Departments as well as each overpass will have various Delaware Fire Departments manning them, paying honors to Chief Pridemore.
This is a very large and complex operation and without the assistance of the Clayton Police, Wilmington, New Castle County, and Delaware State Police, Smyrna Police as well as many others it would just not be possible. The members and officers of the Clayton Fire Company cannot thank our brothers in service as well as the public. We do apologia to our citizens for any inconvenience this transfer many cause.
