Saturday afternoon at 3:25pm Clayton was alerted for the Engine and Ladder along with Engine and Tanker 53, Ambulance 64, Ambulance 43 and KM6 to assist Smyrna on the residental Structure fire at 65 Shorty Lane in the Smyrna Landing section of Amyrna's 1st Due. Captain Hankins who lives in the area immediately went on scene reporting smoke showing and confirming a kitchen fire. Quint 45 w/5, Asst. Chief Moorhead and Engine 45 w/5, Asst. Chief Carrow arrived to find Engine 44-2 with a line stretched and in service and Ladder 44 beginning searches. Quint 45 handled the 2nd due Special services while Engine 45 handled the second 2nd Engine assignment. Crews where able to make quick work of the fire and searches proved negative. One resident was transported to Bayhealth Medical in Dover with smoke inhulation. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating. Capt Brian Ferguson had the Smyrna Command.
