LADIES AUXILIARY MOURNS THE PASSING OF LIFE MEMBER PEGGY IVORY

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Clayton Fire Company is mourning the passing of Life Member Peggy K. Ivory who passed away on Wednesday July 20, 2022 at her home.  The Company and Auxiliary  ask that you please keep the Ivory family in your thoughts and prayers.  Below is Ms. Ivory's Obituary.

After a beautiful life and a sudden ending, Peggy K. Ivory of Clayton peacefully passed away on July 20, 2022 at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Peggy was born at Milford Memorial Hospital, daughter of the late Lester and Catherine Killen on May 16, 1956. Peggy is preceded in death by her loving husband George R. Ivory Sr. of 33 years, her father Lester Killen, mother Catherine Killen, her brothers Thomas Killen, Donald Killen, and sister Faye K. Dill.

Peggy is survived by her five sisters and two brothers; Robert A. Killen (Sue) of Felton, Nancy Dickerson(Jack) of Milford, Connie Billings(David) of Felton, Eleanor Killen of Felton, Ellen Mitchell of Felton, Robin Killen of Felton, and Roy Killen(Sue) of Felton. Peggy also had many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Peggy is also survived by eldest son George Ronald Ivory Jr. of Smyrna and Dean Ivory of Avondale, PA; Daughter in laws Jenny and Danielle Ivory, grand children, Ronald, Damen, Dunovan, Daphne, Dathan Ivory, and Danielle Estes; and great grandchild Keagan Estes. Peggy also had wonderful friends who were there by her side till the very end; Betty Sheets, Edna Conner, Margaret Ann Rogers, Margo Orlando, and Phyllis Chase.

Peggy was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Clayton Volunteer Fire Company. Peggy worked at Prentice Hall, Smyrna School District, and retired from Kent County in February. She worked her entire life serving and making a positive difference in the lives of others. Peggy and her late husband, Ron, we’re business owners and valuable members of the community.

Peggy was a loving and thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to everyone. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and always made everyone feel special. You were never a stranger when you were around her. She also loved her beach trips/days, pool days, eating crabs, going to the Delaware State Fair, weekly trips to the outlets. She was a beacon of light and will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 11 am to 1 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
