TOWER, ENGINE AND RESCUE GO TO SMYRNA FOR HOUSE FIRE

Wednesday morning at 9:33am the station along with Ambulance 64 and Kent County Paramedics were dispatched to assist Station 44 on the residental structure fire in the 400 block of Ronald Lane in the Glenwood Development of Smyrna.  Responding units were advised that the caller was reporting heavy smoke coming from the residence with a person reported trapped.  EMS assets arrived just ahead of fire department and confirmed fire showing and a subject trapped.  As the first fire units arrived EMS reported the subject was now out of the residence and being treated by them.  Command 44 w/ Capt. Thompson arrived, confirmed the reports and established command.  Tower 45 w/4, AC Carrow and Engine 45 w/6, DC Lightcap arrived with Engine 44-4.  The engine companies established a water supply and placed handlines in service.  Additional units arrived behind the first in units and were assigned additional tasks on the fire scene.  Rescue 45 w/5, Firefighter J. Carroll also responded.  The fire was brought under control in about and hour with extensive damage to the residence.  There were 2 civilians injuried and transported to Bayhealth Medical in Dover for treatment.  The Delaware Stae Fire Marshals Office is investigation.  Units responding; Command 44-9, Engine 44-4, Engine 44-3, Engine 45, Squad 26, Squad 53, Ladder 44, Tower 45, Rescue 45, B-64, D-64, B-26, KM-6, KM-5, KM-9, FM2, FM6, FM12, FM13.  Engine 43-3 covered Station 44 while Tower 27 covered Station 45.  Photo's courtesy Carol Ann Morris and Jason Sacco.
