Easter Sunday at 11:08am Clayton, Leipsic, the American Legion Ambulance and Kent County Paramedics were dispatche to assist Citizens Hose Co. of Smyrna on the working house fire AT 35 Annie Gillis Ln in the Towne & Country Development. EMS assets from the American Legion Ambulance arrived first and reported fire showing with a subject trapped. The bedridden occupant was removed by the EMS Crew and Smyrna PD as the first fire units were arriving. Tower 45 w/4 arrived behind Command 44-9 w/Capt Newnam and Commend 45 w/AC Carrow and handled the First Due Special Services followed by Engine 45 w/5 who handled the First Due Engine, establishing a way supply and stretching the handline. Engine 44-2 handled the Second Due Engine securing Engine 45's water suply and stretching the second line. Ladder 44 and Tower 45's crews handled the primary and secondary searches and opened up for the engine companies. Squad 45 w/4, Engine 44-3 and Squad 53 arrived and assisted on the fire ground. The fire was contained to the B/C corner of the house and basement area. Captain Dwayne Newnam had the Smyrna Command. The Delaware State Fire Marshals Office is investigating.
