Thursday morning just after 0100 hours Tower 45 w/4, Deputy Chief Lightcap, Engine 45 w/6, Asst. Chief Carrow and Squad 45 w/3, FF Bolyes assisted Citizens Hose Company of Smyrna with a working house fire in the 700 blk of W. South St. in Smyrna. Smyrna's Engine 44-2 arrived first due and found a 2 story SFD with heavy fire throughout he house and through the roof. The crew from 44-2 secured their water supply and stretched the line to the interior. Tower 45 arrived as the First Due Special while Engine 45 had the Second Due Engine. The crew from Tower 45 began the searches and opening up for for the engine companies while E45 stretched the 2nd line. Ladder 44 had the 2nd Due Special while Squad 45 was assigned the 3rd Due Engine and secured a second water supply to the scene. Additional crews from Engine 44-4, Squad 53 and Rescue 53 assisted with checking for extension and overhaul. The homeowner was transported to Bay Health Kent Campus with minor injuries and a K9 was transported by SPD to an Animal Hospital in Dover for Treatment. The house recieved extensive damage. The fire is being investigated by the Delaware State Fire Marshals Office. All units cleared the scene by 03:30. Smyrna Chief Chip Thompson had the Smyrna Command.
