Monday morning at 02:07 the station along with Rescue Company 51, Ambulance 64, Ambulance 53, KM7 and Trooper 4 were dispatched for the MVC with a vehicle overturned at the intersection of Wheatleys Pond Rd & Bryn Zion Rd. While units were marking up that they were responding Kent Center upgraded the call to 2 vehicles with a subject trapped in one vehicle and the second vehicle overturned and on fire. Chief Moorhead who was covering as the Duty Officer arrived first and confirmed the report. Rescue 45/w4, Lt. Sacco arrived behind the chief and split his crew with 1/2 placing a handline in service for the vehicle overturned which was now fully involved and the other 1/2 began extrication on the passenger car. Squad 45 w/3, Lt. Conrad arrived behind the rescue and their crew assisted with extinquishment. Rescue 51 and Engine 51-3 arrived with Squad 45 and their crews handled the extrication. EMS assets arrived and began patient care of the occupant that was trapped. Extrication was completed in less then 20 minutes and the patient as transported to Bayhealth Kent by B-51. The operator of the pickup truck had fled the scene prior to emergency services arriving. Chief Moorhead had the Clayton Command. DSP was on scene and investigating.
