CLAYTON VOLUNTEERS HAVE A BUSY MONDAY

February 19, 2024 Clayton, DE - Monday February 19, 2024 was a busy day for the Clayton Volunteers. It started off with a wires on fire located at 251 Wildlife Road at the far West portion of the fire district at 1615 hours, the Squad responded to handle the alarm This Monday was also a training night and the company was scheduled to conduct follow up training to our last fire school that was a review of rescue tools. This Monday the members used the air bags, rescue tools, and the sidewinder to lift our utility vehicle, getting much needed hands on experience. While the training was ongoing the company was dispatched at 1913 hours to assist Citizen's Hose of Smyrna with an MVC with entrapment on US 13 Southbound just North of Duck Creek Road, Command 45 (Deputy Chief Carrow) ,Rescue 45 w/7 (Asst. Chief Lightcap), and Squad 45 w/6 (Asst. Chief Hunter), responded to assist with the MVC. The station received a phone call from a resident in Ovations  and reported her smoke detector was alarming. Engine 45 w/6 (Past Chief Whalen) and Tower 45 w/5 (FF McClements) responded to that alarm and determined that the smoke detector was a faulty detector. All units were in the station at 2030.
