June 11, 2024 Clayton, DE – During the monthly June meeting of the Clayton Fire Company regular member Jake Lucas was installed as a crew leader. “The crew leader is a position just below our lieutenant’s position stated Fire Chief Austin Moorhead, it is a position where a firefighter can get limited officer experience before rising to the next level of being an officer”. The crew leader will normally work under the direct supervision of a fire line officer at a fire scene. Jake is the son of former Deputy Fire Chief Mike Lucas and comes from a firefighting family. Past Chief/President Jim Cubbage administered the oath of office, Jake was pinned by his son Easton with his mother Samantha supervising the pinning. If you see Jake please congratulate him on this accomplishment.
