On June 11, 2024 the Clayton Fire Company placed into service a 2024 Chevrolet 2500 pickup in service assigned the unit number of Traffic Control 45 or TCU 45 for short. This unit will be rotated between our fire police officers to assist with traffic at any incident. Clayton Fire Chief Austin Moorhead stated “It is important to provide a safe scene to our members and to the fire police officers who respond to incidents. This unit will provide a large traffic presence with its lights and lightbar as well as the extra items it carries”. The increase in traffic in the Smyrna Clayton area caused to officers to look for ways to better protect the incident scene and with funding from Rep. Bill Carson, Jeff Spiegelman, and Senator Kyra Hoffner made this unit a reality.
