ENGINE, SQUAD AND RESCUE GO TO SMYRNA FOR WORKING HOUSE FIRE

Tuesday evening at 9:54pm the station along with Engine Co. 53, Tower 43, Ambulance 64 and KM6 were dispatched as part of the 1st alarm for a working house fire at 71 Zelkova Rd. in the Hickory Hollow Development on the southside of Smyrna.  Engine 45 w/5, Squard 45 w/5, Rescue 45 w/6 and Command 45 w/Capt Conrad made the response from Clayton. Engine 45 & Squad 45 arrived along with Engine 44-2, Command 44-9 and Command 45 to find a 2 story single family dwelling with heavy fire throughout with an immediate exposure problem to the house on the Bravo side.  Crews placed several handlines and a ladder pipe in services for fire attack.  Special Services completed the searches and opened up for the engine companies.  Crews were able to bring the fire under control in under an hour and remained on scene for sometime to complete overhaul.  There was one firefighter injuried and transported to Bayhealth in Dover for treatment.  Capt.
