Monday evening 5/19 just prior to the start of our by weekly in service training class the station was dispatched along with Tanker Company 53, the Ameican Legion Ambulance and Ketn County Paramedics to assist the Citizens Hose Co. of Smyrna for the residental structure fire in the 2100 blk of S. Dupont Blvd. Car 45 w/Chief Moorhead, TL45, w/6, Engine 45 w/6 and Squad 45 w/3 made the response. Crews from Smyrna and Clayton arrived together and found a single family dwelling with fire showing from the rear of residence. The Engine Companies placed several handlines in service while the Truck Companies handled the searches and opened up for the Engine Companies. One animal was located in the fire and removed and turned over to EMS who later transported it to an animal hospital. The fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes.
