ENGINE AND LADDER GO TO SMYRNA FOR REPORTED STUCTURE FIRE

Saturday evening at 8:51pm the station was dispatched ladder and engine along with Ladder and engine Station 43, Ambulance 64 and KM6 to assist Station 44 on a reported structure fire at Tamara Dr & Lexington Ave off Carter Road.  With a crew in the station Quint 45 w/4, Deputy Chief Alex Carrow responded in a minute followed by engine 45-2 w/6, Assistant Chief Jeff Lightcap.  Responding units were advised the caller reported what appeared to be fire coming from the roof of a neighbors home.  Initial crews checked the dispatched addressed where they noticed a large fire coming from an location west of the reported address.  Units were directed to Baynard Farm Lane where they found a large illegal control burning with minor extension into a barm about 15' away.  Crews from engines 44-2, 44-3, R-44, Qunit 45, 45-2 and 43-3 placed 2 lines in service to extenquish both the control burning and the small fire in the barn.  Crews worked for about 45 minutes.  Chief Hartnett (44-15) had the Command,  This was the second response for the new engine 45-2.   Units responding Engines 44-2, 44-3, 45-2, 43-3, Rescue 44, Quint 45, Tower 43, B-64, KM6,  Photo's courtesy Jerry Hull.
