FIRST DUE STRUCTURE FIRE

Sunday morning at 02:23 the station along with Engine Company 44 and Tanker 26 were dispatched for the residental structure fire at 224 Heather Drive in the Kentbourne Development.  Command 45 w/ Assistant Chief Joe Jones, Engien 45-2 w/5, Lt. Brian Hunter, Quint 45 w/4, Past Chief Robbie Johnson and Engine 45-3 w/3, Past Chief Wes Davis along with Engine 44-3 and Tanker 26 made the response.  Responding units were advised the called was reporting a pot on the stove on fire.  Command 45 arrived to find smoke coming from the side door and confirmed an active fire in the kitchen and requested the working fire upgrade.  This brought Rescue 45 w/4, Firefighter Josh Klingler, Ladder 44 and Tanker and Rescue KCMD Sta 2 along with EMS assets.  Engine 45-2 arrived stretched the handline and secured a water supply point for Tanker 26, Quint 45 arrived right behind the engine and handled the searches.  Engine 44-3 assisted with opening up and checking for extension while Tanker 26 supplied 45-2 and its crew was assigned the RIT.  Attack crews found a fire in the kitchen and quickly extinquished it along with checking for extension.  The searches were negative however one resident was transported to Bayhealth -Kent with smoke inhalation.  Assistant Chief Jones had the command.  The Delaware State Fire Marshals Office is investigating.  Photo's courtesy Joe Jones.  Units responding Command 45, Engine 45-2, 45-3, 44-3, KCM E2, Quint 45, Ladder 44, Rescue 45, Tanker 26, Tanker KCM 2, B-64, KM6, FM-13 (Schad).
