Friday evening May 14th at 10:29pm Clayton for the Engine and Ladder along with Engine and Tanker 26 and EMS assets were dispatched to assist Station 44 for the residental structure fire in the 500 block of Smyrna Landing Road north of Smyrna. Units arrived to find a 2 story signal family dwelling with heavy fire showing from the rear. Crews placed several handlines in service for fire attack. Additional resources from Leipsic, Hartly and Cheswold responded to the scene to assist with water supply and manpower. The fire was brought under control in just over an hour. Crews spent several hours extinquishing hot spots and overhauling the fire. The Delaware State Fire Marshals Office is investigating. Captain Mike O'Neal (44-19) had the Smyrna Command.
