On Saturday evening December 20, 2025 the Clayton Fire Company helds it's annual banquet and awards dinner at the fire station. It is during this event that the company honors it's members who go above and beyond during the year with various awards. The winner of the William R. "Ace" Carrow award for Fireman of hte Year was long serving fire police officer and member Alan Dutton.
This year, the Clayton Fire Company stands strong with 187 members, nearly 100 of whom have earned the status of “Active Member.” From this remarkable group, one member is selected for this esteemed award. A person who embodies commitment, pride, and service.
On behalf of the Officers of this Company, I thank each and every one of you for your support and efforts in making this another successful year. Without you, we could not accomplish what we do. As leaders, we are only as strong as those who stand beside us, and you make this organization what it is.
To be honest, when thinking about a suitable recipient, this search was for a member who stood out this year, and a member who has been consistently active and displayed the commitment, pride, and service over many years. As stated above, many members fit this description. Part of this search was also to recognize one of those members who had never been presented this award. For a number of years, it was noticed that when this member is given a task, it is taken seriously, and commitment was displayed. This member takes their current assignment very serious and still serves whenever and wherever possible.
This year’s recipient joined the Clayton Fire Company in 1991, the year of our 100th Anniversary. According to our final points report, this member ranked among the top five most active members. Numbers alone cannot measure the pride this individual has for our company. Numbers cannot capture the dedication to preserving the traditions and values that have been passed down by generations of leaders before us. Pkease read teh comments below of President Virdin when he presented the award.
We all know that an organization is never about just one person. It takes all of us working together. Tonight, we honor one individual who fits the above description and has gone above and beyond, helping ensure that Clayton Fire Company continues to provide the service and excellence our community expects.
