VOLUNTEERS GETTING READY FOR HOLIDAY SEASON

The volunteers of Clayton are gearing up foe what is expected to be another busy holiday season.  Not only will the company be handling the day to day events like responding to calls, training and work details but the company is will be taking part in numerious other department and community events;

Starting Friday November 23 and running up almost to Christmas the company will be holding its annual Christmas Tree Sales from its lot at the corner of Main St. and Railroad Ave.  This very popular events brings people form all over the area to purchase the best rees they will find anywhere.  The company will also be selling handmade wreathes and grave blankets.  The tree lot is like stepping back in time and is a hit with the family.  The lot will be open weeknights from 4pm until 8pm, Saturdays 8am to 8pm and Sundays 9am until 6pm. 

Starting Friday November 23rd and until Monday December 17th the Clayton Fire Company will be collecting toys for the Toys for Tots campaign.  Residents can donate new unwrapped toys for a boy or a girl and drop them off at the Clayton Fire Company tree lot anytime it is open and also on December 2nd from 8am to 11am for the Breakfast with Santa event and that evening at 6pm for the Memorial Tree Lighting.  All donated toys stay in the Kent County area.  

Sunday December 2nd from 8am until 11am will be the Annual Breakfast with Santa.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to spend time with all the kids big or small that attend.  Each child will get to meet Santa, get a small gift and a picture with Santa along with a great meal.

Sunday December 2nd from 2pm until 6pm the Clayton Historical Society will hold their Christmas in Clayton event.  There will be both craft and food vendors and a kids Santa Hay Ride from 2pm to 4pm.  This will take place on Railroad Ave across from the fire companies tree lot.

Sunday December 2nd at 5pm.  The Smyrna/Clayton July 4th Foundation will hold their Christmas Parade down Main St in Clayton.  The parade sarts just as the sun is setting and brings a special attention to decorated units through the parade. Line up is at 4pm on School Ln.

Sunday December 2nd at 6pm the Smyrna/Clayton July 4th Foundation will be holding their Annual Memorial Christmas Tree Lighting at the Clayton Fire Company.  The Christmas Tree that is located at Main St and Bassett St will be lite as names of deceased are read during a special program.  This is the 25 year for this event. 

Sunday December 23rd starting at 5pm the Clayton Fire Company will be accompanying Santa on a fire truck around the follwing locations;  Jockey Hollow (santa will be stopping at the corner of County Hollow Drive and Stirrup Road for a few minutes), Gunters Run, Old Country Farms, Pheasant Point, Providence Crossing and Huntington Mills.

Christmas Eve Monday December 24th starting at 5pm the Clayton Fire Company will be accompanying Santa on a fire truck around the following area's;  Old Clayton (the old part of Clayton), The Village of Wheatleys Pond, Clayton Courts, Dennison's Trailer Park, Town and Country, Longwood Lane.
